Hi ,
Some of our clients have also experienced the same issue with spam emails being received repeatedly.
ESET plans to release Endpoint Security 12.0.2058, which includes a workaround for this issue, in June 2025.
The ESET developers have advised that, as a temporary workaround while the issue is being investigated, you can disable Advanced Email Client Processing and disable Advanced Spam Scanner. Please refer to the guide and screenshots below.
Step 1: Disable Advanced Spam Scanner
- Open ESET PROTECT
- Go to Configuration
- Select the existing policy (or Master policy) you want to edit
- Click Edit
- Navigate to Protections > Email client protection
- Under Mailbox protection, find Scan for spam
- Disable the option Use advanced spam scanner
- Select the Force Flag (Lighting bolt)
Step 2: Disable Advanced Email Client Processing
- In the same policy editor, still under Mailbox protection
- Go to Integrations
- Disable the option Advanced email client processing
- Select the Force Flag (Lighting bolt)
The settings below are not part of the workaround, but they are recommended to help reduce spam by allowing ESET to more aggressively detect, clean, and remove potential threats.
- Re-enable the ESET configuration.
- Edit the existing configuration policy applied to the client.
- Navigate to Protections > Email Client.
- Under the ThreatSense settings, locate the Cleaning Level.
- Change it to Always Remedy. This setting should help.
For your reference, ESET PROTECT displays an RSS feed with information about new ESET product versions in the Dashboard > Status Overview section.
Additionally, from version 9 onward, ESET Endpoint products include an integrated Automatic Update feature.
If you're running version 9 or later, you'll receive a pop-up notification when a new version is available. Simply restart your device to complete the update process.
As noted in the forum, this is a known issue currently affecting clients using shared mailboxes in Microsoft Outlook. You can view the full discussion and details here:

At this stage, we’ll proceed with closing this case, as the issue is expected to be resolved in the next product release.
If you need assistance with any of the steps mentioned or if the issue persists after updating, simply reply to this email and the case will automatically reopen.
